Top-Ranked Hopkins Rolls to 26th Straight Win, 9-2 Over McDaniel
April 16, 2004 WESTMINSTER, Md. -- The top-ranked Johns Hopkins baseball team continued its winning ways Friday afternoon as the Blue Jays erased an early 1-0 deficit and cruised to a 9-2 victory over host McDaniel. McDaniel's Kevin Salamone walked in a run in the bottom of the first and the Terror collected three hits in the inning, but Hopkins starter Sven Stafford worked his way out of the jam and was never in trouble again.
The Blue Jays took the lead for good in the third as senior catcher Bryan Eberle singled home Paul Long, who had doubled, and later scored on an RBI-single by senior Rob Morrison. The Blue Jays left the bases loaded in the third, but a six-run fourth pushed the lead to 8-1.
Junior Paul Winterling hit a two-run home run, Morrison added another run-scoring single and senior Tim Casale ripped an RBI-double to fuel the rally, which included five hits and one McDaniel error.
