BALTIMORE, MD - Junior catcher Bryan Eberle (Frederick, MD/Urbana) went 3-for-5 with two doubles and a home run to lead the Johns Hopkins baseball team past Villa Julie, 10-5, this afternoon in non-conference action.

Junior Tim Casale (West Hempstead, NY/Chaminade) added his first career home run and freshman Gary Rosenberg (West Bloomfield, MI/West Bloomfield) was 4-for-4 with two doubles as the Blue Jays won their third straight game to improve to 20-4 on the year.

Hopkins jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as sophomore Eric Nigro (Randolph, NJ/Taft Prep) drove in junior Rob Morrison (Malibu, CA/Loyola) with a fielder's choice and Eberle drilled a two-run double to the gap in right-center field.

Villa Julie (8-14) responded with three runs in the top of the next inning to tie the game at 3-3. Following two walks, Brandon Clark hit a double to right center to drive in one run and Zach Moye added a two-run single to center field.

JHU answered with runs in five of the next six innings. In the bottom of the second, Rosenberg doubled to left center and scored one batter later on a double to left field by Morrison, who was 3-for-5 on the day. Hopkins increased the margin to 5-3 in the third as sophomore Paul Winterling (Glenelg, MD/McDonogh School) walked, stole second base and scored on a single to right field by Casale.

After scoring a single run in the fifth, the Blue Jays tallied three runs in the sixth to take a 9-3 advantage. Junior Brian Morley (Tappan, NY/Don Bosco Prep) doubled to right center and scored two batters later on a sacrifice fly by Nigro. Eberle then belted his third home run of the season to right center and Casale followed with a long home run to right field, the first of his career.

Rosenberg capped the Blue Jay scoring in the seventh as he drove in freshman Corey Gleason (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton), who had doubled down the left field line, with a single to left field. Villa Julie added two runs in the eighth on a two-run home run to left field by Andy Welling.

Freshman Jim Flannery (Rocky River, OH/St. Edward) had a solid outing as he improved to 2-0 for the Blue Jays. He struck out eight batters and allowed three runs on just three hits in seven innings. Freshman Jason Thayer (Finksburg, MD/Westminster) and sophomore Jason Hochfelder (Briarcliff Manor, NY/Hackley) each pitched an inning in relief.
