Fort Myers, FL - The Johns Hopkins baseball team scored 31 runs and held SUNY-Brockport to just four hits in sweeping a doubleheader from the Golden Eagles, 19-3 and 12-4, Thursday.

In the opener, senior righthander Jason Setty (Mt. Pleasant, TX/Mt. Pleasant) scattered three hits and allowed three unearned runs in a complete game seven innings to improve to 3-0 on the season. The Hopkins offense was paced by sophomore catcher Doug Hitchner (Haverford, PA/Episcopal Academy), who went 3-for-4 with a grand slam and two runs scored. The slam was one of five home runs hit by the Blue Jays in the easy win.

Sophomore Carl Ippolito (Ewing, NJ/Pennington School) also finished 3-for-4 with a two-run homer, three RBIs, and four runs scored, while sophomore Rob Morrison (Malibu, CA/Loyola) went 2-for-4 with a three-run blast and four runs scored. Freshman Paul Long (Oklahoma City, OK/Heritage Hall) also hit a two-run home run, his first career hit as a Blue Jay.
 

 

In the nightcap, pitchers Mark Jarashow (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) and Jason Hochfelder (Briarcliff, NY/Hackley) combined to allow four runs on only one hit as Hopkins swept the twinbill. Jarashow started the game and picked up the win for his first decision of the season. Junior outfielder Joe Urban (Nanticoke, PA/Bishop Hoban) led the offense with a three-run home run and four runs batted in, while Craig Cetta (Randolph, NJ/Randolph), Jay Cieri (Pine Brook, NJ/Montville), and Sven Stafford (Evanston, IL/Evanston) each drove in two runs.

The Blue Jays are now 10-3 on the season and have won six of seven games in Florida. SUNY-Brockport fell to 6-5 this season.
