Babb Field at Stromberg Stadium

Babb Field at Stromberg Stadium is a brand new facility that opened to the Hopkins baseball team and community in March, 2015. The infield and outfield features one uniform baseball-specific synthetic surface called Double Play Classic, which combines the turf's fiber height with a unique sand/rubber infill to create a surface with natural feel. This is the same surface used by the Texas, Louisville and Oregon baseball programs. Additionally, the all-weather turf has a sublayer of crushed stone, drainage pipes and sand filters to rapidly soak up any rainwater that may come down on the field. As currently constructed, the stadium has an ADA-accessible grandstand that seats 260. There are also several standing-room-only locations with plans to allow seating outisde the right-field wall. Press box equipped technology for live-streaming games and controls for state-of-the-art PA system with speakers mounted throughout the grandstand and in both dugouts.
