POLO TAPPED AT FOURTH IN THE CWPA POLLS
BALTIMORE, MD -- The Johns Hopkins
men's water polo team remained in fourth place in the latest
Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III Top 10 poll
released on Wednesday, September 27. The Blue Jays, despite
going 1-4 last weekend playing primarily against Division I
opponents, picked up 34 points in the voting. JHU is 4-9
overall after defeating George Washington, 11-7, in D.C. on
Wednesday evening.
Senior All-American Zaman Mirzadeh
(Davis, CA/Davis) leads all JHU scorers with 33 goals.
Sophomore Ryan Ford (Almaden, CA/Leland) follows with
19, and freshman Geoffrey McCann (Menlo Park, CA/St.
Francis) has 17 goals. Junior tri-captain Mark McCoy
(Santa Barbara, CA/Dos Pueblos) (9), sophomore Paul
Ramaley (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) (5), freshman
Daniel Herr (Encino, CA/Harvard-Westlake) (3), and
Mark McGory (Sr., Danville, CA/San Ramon) (2) have
all scored goals. Parker Emmott (Fr., Hillsborough,
CA/Menlo), tri-captain Adam Kinsey (Sr., Milford,
OH/Milford) and Anuj Mittal, round out the list
of scorers for Hopkins with one each.
The Blue Jays host the Eastern Division
III Tournament on Saturday and Sunday. Schools
participating in the event include Grove City College, Penn
State Behrend, Washington & Jefferson, and Villanova.
Saturday's matches begin at 10:00 a.m. Johns Hopkins faces
Grove City at 2:00 p.m. and tackles Washington &
Jefferson at 8:30 p.m. Sunday's contests start at 9:30 a.m.
with the Blue Jays against Penn State Behrend. Sunday's
final game has Johns Hopkins battling Villanova at 2:00
p.m.
