JHU WATER POLO MOVES TO FOURTH IN THE POLLS

BALTIMORE, MD -- The Johns Hopkins men's water polo team moved up one spot to fourth place in the latest Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III Top 10 poll released on September 13. The Blue Jays received 36 points, which is up six votes from last week's fifth ranked position.

JHU is 2-6 overall after last weekend's competition at the Princeton Invitational, held September 9-10. Hopkins did not fare well at the Invite, losing in all four of its contests against Division I opponents. On Saturday, the Blue Jays fell to 13th-ranked Queens College 15-4, Iona by a score of 13-9, and No. 17 St. Francis by a 22-1 margin. In Sunday action, Bucknell downed JHU, 10-4.

Senior All-American Zaman Mirzadeh (Davis, CA/Davis) leads all JHU scorers with 17 goals. Sophomore Ryan Ford (Almaden, CA/Leland) is close behind with 16 and freshman Geoffrey McCann (Menlo Park, CA/St. Francis) has nine goals.

The Blue Jays are off this weekend. Their next match is home against George Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 22.
