WATER POLO GOES 0-4 AT PRINCETON INVITATIONAL

BALTIMORE — Johns Hopkins' fifth-ranked water polo team had a tough weekend at the Princeton Invitational, going 0-4 in their matches against Division I opponents. With the losses, JHU falls to 2-6 on the season.

The Blue Jays played three contests on the first day of competition. In game one, Hopkins fell to 13th-ranked Queens College, 15-4. Senior All-American Zaman Mirzadeh (Davis, CA/Davis) recorded three goals for JHU and senior Mark McCoy (Danville, CA/San Ramon) tallied one goal. In their second game, the Blue Jays performed much better, but lost to Iona, 13-9. Mirzadeh, McCoy, and sophomore Ryan Ford (Almaden, CA/Leland) each registered two goals. Freshmen Parker Emmott (Hillsborough, CA/Menlo), Geoffrey McCann (Menlo Park, CA/St. Francis), and Daniel Herr (Encino, CA/Harvard-Westlake) all notched one goal. Hopkins sophomore Paul Ramaley (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) scored JHU's only goal in its final Saturday contest as No. 17 St. Francis defeated the Blue Jays, 22-1.

On Sunday, Hopkins put together its best defensive outing of the weekend, but were downed by Collegiate Water Polo Association Southern Division foe Bucknell, 10-4. Mirzadeh, McCann, Ramaley, and senior Adam Kinsey (Milford, OH/Milford) each recorded a goal.

The Blue Jays will take two weeks off before their next match. JHU will be in action again on Friday, September 22, when they host CWPA Southern Division rival George Washington at 7:00 p.m.
