Eighteen Spring Athletes Named To Centennial Academic Honor Roll

BALTIMORE, MD - Eighteen Johns Hopkins athletes in baseball, tennis, and outdoor track earned spots on the 2005 Centennial Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll, which was announced on Wednesday, May 18. To be nominated for the honor, a student must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, be a starter or key reserve on the team, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.40 or higher.

The men's outdoor track team boasted the most honorees, with seven Blue Jays making the list: seniors Eric Scrivner and Mike Shumski, juniors Ted Esborn and Jason Farber, and sophomores Travis Koh, Tim Pruiett, and Matt Smith. The women's track team had four selections: senior All-Centennial Conference pick Andrea King, classmate Maureen Kimsey, junior Katherine Cain, and sophomore Kaitlin Flynn.

The men's and women's tennis teams each placed three athletes on the Centennial Honor Roll. Senior Morgan Macdonald and juniors Michael Kelly-Sell and Justin Lee were honored from the men's team, while senior All-Centennial Conference pick Michelle Liang, classmate Vandna Jerath, and sophomore Becky Busch were selected from the women's team.

The Hopkins baseball team had one player, senior Jason Hochfelder, earn a spot on the Centennial Honor Roll. The left-handed pitcher was also named All-Centennial Conference.
