Mr. Goldfarb had been a supporter of Hopkins Athletics for more than 25 years. In the fall of 1997 the main gymnasium of the White Athletic Center was named in his honor in recognition of his years of generous philanthropy to Hopkins Athletics. The plaque commemorating this event bears the following inscription:
Larry Goldfarb, Baltimorean, certified public accountant, athlete, whose personal physical fitness has made him a role model and whose friendship and generosity have enriched the lives of countless members of the athletic community
