-- Hopkins Alum Andy Enfield ('91) Guides Florida Gulf Coast to NCAA Sweet 16 --
The all-time leading scorer in Johns Hopkins basketball history, Andy Enfield made history Sunday night becoming the first head coach to lead a 15-seed to the Sweet 16 in the Division I NCAA Men's Basketball Championship. A 1991 graduate of Hopkins, Enfield's Florida Gulf Coast squad shocked second-seeded Georgetown on Friday and defeated seventh-seeded San Diego State last night.
-- Early Surge Powers Men's Lacrosse Past Virginia, 15-8 --
One week after struggling to find a rhythm on both ends of the field, the 10th-ranked Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse team found its stride early in Saturday's game against 14th-ranked Virginia and posted its most impressive win of the season as the Blue Jays raced past the Cavaliers, 15-8, in the second game of the Konica Minolta Face-Off Classic. Hopkins used a 9-0 run and held UVA scoreless for more than 31 minutes to fuel its third straight win in the series and return the Doyle Smith Cup to Homewood. Click here for the full story.
-- Men's Swimming Grabs Fourth Place at NCAA Championship --
The Johns Hopkins men's swimming team added a silver medal and a school record to its four-day haul at the 2013 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championship Saturday night. The Blue Jays piled up 76 points on the final day of the championship to finish in fourth place with 316 total points. The 800 freestyle relay team of Anthony Lordi, Will Kimball, Dylan Coggin and Nick Schmidt set an NCAA record, while Dylan Davis captured the national title in the 100-meter backstroke. -- Women's Swimming Takes Fifth Place at NCAA Championship --
The Johns Hopkins women's swimming team picked up 81.5 points, two medals and two school records on the final day of the 2013 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championship en route to a fifth-place finish. The Blue Jays totaled a program-record 290 points over the course of the four-day championship to match. The fifth-place finish matches a program best and is the Blue Jays best finish since 2002. In all, Hopkins won one NCAA relay title, collected eight medals and broke 11 school records. Click here for the full story.
-- Baseball Closes Fort Myers Trip on Seven-Game Win Streak --
The Johns Hopkins baseball team defeated WI-Oshkosh and Wooster over the weekend to finish its 10-game road trip to Fort Myers, FL on a seven-game win streak. -- Eighth-Ranked Johns Hopkins Sweeps Dickinson and Bates --
The eighth-ranked Johns Hopkins men's tennis team played a pair of matches on Saturday and came away with a pair of victories to improve to 6-2 on the season. Hopkins hosted 21st ranked Bates and edged the Bobcats, 5-4. Hopkins also traveled to Carlisle, PA to take on Dickinson in both teams' Centennial Conference opener. Click here for the full story.
-- Top-Ranked Women's Tennis Falls to No. 2 Amherst, No. 4 Emory --
In a match-up of the top two teams in the nation, it was second-ranked Amherst that came out on top with a close 5-4 win over top-ranked Johns Hopkins at the Fab 7 Tournament in Atlanta. -- Second-Half Rally Leads Princeton Past Women's Lacrosse, 10-7 --
Home-standing Princeton scored the final six goals of the game to rally from a three-goal deficit and defeat 12th-ranked Johns Hopkins, 10-7, Saturday in non-conference action at Class of 1952 Stadium. The Blue Jays fall to 6-3 on the season while the Tigers improve to 4-3. Click here for the full story.
