The third-seeded Blue Jays begin conference tournament play in the semifinals against Dickinson at Franklin & Marshall tonight at 6:00 pm. Hopkins split the season series with the Red Devils, losing in overtime on December 1 before winning, 67-55, on January 19. -- Women's Basketball Heads to Conference Semis --
Hopkins advanced to the semifinals after earning a dramatic 64-59 victory in the first round of the Centennial Conference Tournament against Haverford Wednesday night. The Blue Jays will square off against top-seeded Gettysburg tonight at 6:00 pm for a chance to play in the championship game. Hopkins split the season series with the Bullets this year, taking the latter game at home in a defensive battle, 47-40. Hopkins fans can watch the game live here.
-- No. 4 Men's Lacrosse Hosts Michigan Saturday --
Hopkins and Michigan square off for the first time in history Saturday at Homewood Field. The Jays improved to 2-0 on the young season last weekend with a 12-6 victory at Towson, while the Wolverines fell to 0-2 with a loss at Bellarmine. Hopkins attackmen Brandon Benn and Wells Stanwick have combined for 11 goals and two assists this season. The contest can be seen live on ESPN3 and WatchESPN. Click here for all news and notes.
-- Undefeated Women's Lacrosse Welcomes Bucknell --
Like the men, the No. 19 Jays meet up with Bucknell for the first time in program history Saturday at Homewood Field. Hopkins improved to 2-0 Wednesday with an 18-5 rout of St. Mary's (MD), as junior Sarah Taylor scored five goals and Taylor D'Amore had six assists. -- Wrestling Seeks to Defend Centennial Conference Crown --
Johns Hopkins hosts the Centennial Conference Wrestling Tournament Saturday as the Blue Jays look to capture their second consecutive conference crown. Headlining the event is Hopkins senior Paul Marcello, who can become just the fifth four-time Centennial champion in history. Also favored is sophomore Paul Bewak - currently ranked second in the nation at 125 pounds. Additionally, Henry Stauber is the defending champion at 149 pounds. -- Track & Field Eyes Gold at CC Championships in Collegeville --
The Blue Jay women are the heavy favorites to win their third consecutive conference title after a tremendous regular season from top to bottom. Hopkins is led by junior Emily Swenson, who is the defending champion in the shot put and a strong competitor in the pentathlon. Imoni McCorvey, Kristin Spera and Hannah Oneda are also favorites in the triple jump, long jump and 3000-meter run, respectively.
On the men's side, Hopkins is looking to snap Haverford's 13-year championship streak. The Blue Jays are strong in the field events, featuring top seeds Ryan Walsh (high jump), Paul Vozzo (pole vault), Alex Jebb (long jump). Jebb was named last season's conference outstanding field performer after winning both the long jump and triple jump.
-- Tennis Opens Spring Action in Minnesota --
No. 7 Hopkins takes part in its first event of the spring season at the ITA National Indoor Team Championships in St. Peter, MN this weekend. The meet features eight of the top-10 teams in the nation, as the Blue Jays open with Cal Lutheran Friday morning at 11:30 am (CST). Fans can follow the match and get all their tournament info here.
